The Board of Director’s meeting was called to
order at 6:30 PM at the Club House.
Members present were:
Pattie L, Cathy R, Alex A, Lois M, Ingrid B, Paul L, Wendy B, Guy H,
Natalie S, Becky U, Arlene M.
Excused absence: Mary S and
Carol B. Guests: Colleen Aaberg and Ross Van Amburg.
A correction was made to the February
newsletter. It should have stated
that Independent Plumbing will be giving us an estimate for the well pump head
and Anywhere Electric LLC that told her that the wiring to the pump casing was
not up to code. Anywhere Electric
LLC would also be giving us an estimate for the well head replacement. A motion was made by Pattie L to
approve the February 2012 minutes with the corrections. Becky U seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Ingrid B presented the treasurer’s report. Bills presented for payment were NPPD -
$227.47, Source Gas - $153.78, Print Express – Lois M for postage - $51.45. It
was moved by Cathy R to pay the bills as presented. Lois M seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Ingrid presented a new membership for approval by
the Board. The new member is
Veronica Castanada. The motion was
made by Cathy R and seconded by Natalie S to approve the new membership. Motion carried. We
welcome Veronica Castanada and her family to the Historic Saddle Club.
Horse Show Committee: Pattie reported that she and Suzanne W
have been working on awards for the shows and for the year-end high point
awards. If anyone would like to
sponsor a show or a year-end high point award, please contact Pattie or
Suzanne. Pattie is also
checking with vendors to provide the concessions at the shows.
Drill Team: If you are interested in joining the drill
team, please contact Kathy Kraus at 436-5541. All are welcome.
Kennel Club: The Kennel Club meets the last Monday of
each month at the Club House.
4-H: 2012 officers were elected at the February
23, 2012 meeting. The 4-H club
will be working with a laptop computer that they received through a grant. It will be used to record attendance,
minutes and agenda organization. Members
are preparing and presenting their demonstrations. A copy of the complete meeting minutes is posted under the
4-H tab at the Historic Saddle Club website.
Platte Valley Natural
Horsemanship Club: The PVNHC will be holding
a meeting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 24, 2012. They will be riding if weather permits. They will also be holding a trail ride
on April 15, 2012 if the weather allows.
Meet at Buffalo Creek parking lot at 1:00 PM. They will also be holding an obstacle challenge on Sunday, April
29, 2012. The location will be
announced in the next newsletter.
You are to bring your own obstacle and set it up then all of the
participants will have the opportunity to try each of the obstacles. Contact Arlene at 641-2028 for
additional information.
Old Business: Ingrid reported that there was no
response from Independent Plumbing regarding an estimate on a new pump. She will contact additional plumbing
companies for estimates. Ingrid is
also checking on additional insurance quotes for property insurance. The estimate for repairs of
the tin on the crow’s nest was $486.22.
Guy H, Alex A and Richard B will do the work to reduce the cost of the
repair. Adam’s Electric submitted
a quote of $300 or less to enclose the wiring from the crow’s nest to the pump
head. It was moved by Pattie L and
seconded by Paul L to have Adam’s Electric complete this work. Motion carried.
New Business: Pattie L and Ingrid B met with Paul
Reed Construction one day last month to inquire about the drainage problem on
the Saddle Club grounds. The work
required to address this problem is extensive. The initial process would be the completion of a GPS survey
at a cost of $2500. It was also
suggested that the entrance road be moved to the west edge of the grounds since
that is the highest level. New
regulations forbid the drainage of water into the barrow pits so we would have
to have a retention pond on the grounds.
A temporary fix would be grading the road, re-cutting the ditches beside
the road and resurfacing it with crushed concrete. The Board requested that Ingrid request a review by two or
more contractors. This discussion
was tabled.
The next Board of Directors meeting will be held
on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 6:30 PM.
Natalie S moved that the meeting adjourn and Becky
U seconded it. Motion carried.
